And they predate legalized medical cannabis in all states; they were accessible, cheap, and caused similar psychoactive effects. It isn’t very clear for consumers because K2 or Spice is everywhere. WebSynthetic marijuana, sold as “Spice,” first appeared in Europe in 2004 and in the U.S. in 2008. Chemicals used to make synthetic marijuana, however, were created for experimental purposes decades ago. These include: CP 47,497, named after Charles Pfizer of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, developed in the 1980s for scientific research.
